On International Women’s Day 2025, I had the privilege of attending and being recognised as a winner at a celebration of women in STEM and construction at the House of Lords. Organised by Dr Roni Savage FREng and hosted alongside Baroness Sandy Verma, the event brought together trailblazing business leaders and committed allies all working to accelerate change across industries that shape our future.

It was more than an awards evening. It was a powerful reminder that innovation thrives when it is inclusive, and leadership is strongest when it lifts others. I was honoured to be named among this year’s awardees, each one a testament to what happens when determination meets purpose.
As a young entrepreneur and founder of Perfect Sense AQ, being recognised in that room meant more than words can capture. It was a space filled with optimism, action, and above all, people who are breaking down barriers, whether in labs, on construction sites, in classrooms, or at policy tables.
Three Reflections I Brought Home:
Do what you love—and back yourself. Purpose-led work is powerful, and it often begins with a single step into uncertainty.
Create space for others. For me, that means continuing my role as a STEM Ambassador and mentoring those who are just starting.
Age is no barrier. Young people have insights, energy, and vision. Let’s listen, support, and invite them in.
The evening’s panel discussion, featuring leaders like Jacqueline O’Donovan OBE, Julie White, Professor Priti Parikh, and Zoe (Yiting) Lu, was filled with wisdom on resilience, opportunity, and facing fear with action. One message resonated deeply: Don’t wait for permission. Just do it.
At Perfect Sense AQ, we’re building on these values every day. Whether through our work on gas-detection or through community and education engagement, we’re committed to shaping a more equitable future, one that welcomes diverse voices and challenges outdated norms.
I’m grateful to those who organised the event and to everyone who continues to champion inclusion, innovation, and opportunity in our industries. Together, we are not just celebrating achievements, we’re paving the way for others to succeed.
Exciting things are on the horizon. Let’s keep moving forward.
